Why are the Sorry Girls called that?

Published in Nickname Origin 1 min read

Becky Wright and Kelsey MacDermaid are known as "The Sorry Girls" because they playfully embrace a common stereotype about Canadians.

According to a Global News article, they chose the name because "There's this big stereotype in Canada that we say sorry a lot, so we thought it would be cute to call ourselves, 'The Sorry Girls', but we aren't apologetic about anything,” said Wright. Their journey together started in 2010.

In essence, the name is a lighthearted nod to a national characteristic, while simultaneously emphasizing that they are confident and unapologetic in their creative endeavors.
