How many essential amino acids are there?

There are nine essential amino acids that your body cannot produce on its own. These essential amino acids must be obtained through your diet. They are:

  • Phenylalanine
  • Threonine

  • Valine

These amino acids are crucial for various bodily functions, including:

You can obtain essential amino acids from various food sources, including:

While your body can synthesize the remaining 11 amino acids, known as non-essential amino acids, obtaining adequate amounts of all 20 amino acids through your diet is essential for overall health.
