How do I upload PowerPoint to OneDrive?

Published in OneDrive Upload 3 mins read

You can upload a PowerPoint presentation to OneDrive by saving it directly there from PowerPoint or by uploading it through the OneDrive website or app.

Saving Directly from PowerPoint

This is the easiest method if you are creating or editing the PowerPoint presentation on your computer.

  1. Open your PowerPoint presentation.
  2. Click File > Save As.
  3. Select OneDrive. You'll likely see options like "OneDrive - Personal" or your company's OneDrive. Choose the appropriate account.
  4. Choose a folder within OneDrive or save it to the root directory.
  5. Click Save.

Uploading via the OneDrive Website

This method is useful if you already have the PowerPoint presentation saved on your computer and want to move it to OneDrive.

  1. Open your web browser and go to the OneDrive website: https://www.onedrive.com/
  2. Sign in with your Microsoft account.
  3. Navigate to the folder where you want to save the presentation. If you need to create a new folder, click "+ New" then "Folder" and name it accordingly.
  4. Click Upload. You might see the word "Upload" on the top menu bar.
  5. Select Files or Folder. "Files" lets you upload individual files, while "Folder" allows you to upload an entire folder of files.
  6. Browse to the location of your PowerPoint presentation on your computer.
  7. Select the PowerPoint file and click Open.

Uploading via the OneDrive App

This is for uploading from your computer where you have OneDrive app installed and signed in:

  1. Locate OneDrive Folder: On your computer, find the OneDrive folder. It often appears in the file explorer or finder.
  2. Copy or Move the File: Simply copy your PowerPoint file to the desired folder inside your OneDrive folder. OneDrive will automatically sync the file to the cloud.

Key Considerations

  • OneDrive - Personal vs. OneDrive for Business: Make sure you are saving your presentation to the correct OneDrive account. Personal files should go to OneDrive - Personal, while work-related files should go to your company's OneDrive for Business.
  • File Size Limits: Be aware of any file size limits that OneDrive may have. Large presentations with embedded media may take longer to upload.
  • Syncing: Once uploaded, OneDrive will automatically sync the file across all your devices that are connected to the same OneDrive account.
