How to Power Cycle ONT?

To power cycle your ONT (Optical Network Terminal), follow these simple steps as outlined in the YouTube video "How To: Reboot My ONT":

Steps to Power Cycle Your ONT

  1. Unplug the ONT: Locate the power cord for your ONT and unplug it from the electrical outlet.

  2. Wait Five Minutes: Allow the ONT to remain unplugged for a full five minutes. This ensures that any residual power is fully discharged. The video states, "Now wait five minutes...".

  3. Plug the ONT Back In: After waiting five minutes, plug the ONT power cord back into the electrical outlet.

  4. Reconnect the Battery Lead: After plugging the ONT back into the outlet, reconnect the battery lead.

  5. Wait for Service Restoration: Allow approximately five minutes for the ONT to power up and your internet service to be restored.


Important Notes:

  • Instructions may also be posted on the ONT unit itself.
  • After plugging the ont back into the outlet, wait 30 seconds before reconnecting the battery lead.

Following these steps should effectively power cycle your ONT and resolve many common connectivity issues.
