How do I minimize Google window?

Published in Operating Systems 2 mins read

You can minimize a Google window using keyboard shortcuts or your mouse.

Here's how:

  • Using Keyboard Shortcuts:

    • Windows: Press Alt + Spacebar, then press N. This sequence opens the system menu and selects the "Minimize" option. Alternatively, if you are trying to maximize or minimize the window (toggle between the two states), you can try Shift + Backspace, or Alt + Right Arrow.

    • macOS: Press Command (⌘) + M. This minimizes the active window to the Dock.

  • Using Your Mouse:

    • Click the Minimize button: Look for the small "-" (minus) symbol in the top-right corner of the window (on Windows) or the top-left corner (on macOS). Clicking this button will minimize the window.

    • Right-click the window's title bar (Windows only) and select "Minimize": Right-clicking the title bar brings up a menu where you can choose "Minimize".

  • Alternative Mouse Method (macOS): Double-click the window's title bar (some configurations may require a single click) to minimize to the Dock if the feature is enabled in System Preferences.

The window will then disappear from your screen and be placed on the taskbar (Windows) or Dock (macOS) where you can click it to restore it.
