How Do You Clean Iron Ore?

Published in Ore Processing 1 min read

Cleaning iron ore generally involves removing impurities to improve its quality for iron and steel production. One method focuses on removing red dust and other contaminants.

Here's a method to clean iron ore, especially concerning red dust removal:

  • Dilution: Mix 1 part Iron Ore Red Dust Cleaner with 4 parts water.
  • Application: Spray the diluted solution onto the surface of the iron ore that needs cleaning.
  • Penetration: Allow the solution to penetrate the iron ore red dust for 20 to 40 minutes. This allows the cleaner to loosen the deposits.
  • Agitation (for Hard Deposits): If the deposits are stubborn, vigorously scrub the surface with a stiff-bristled brush or broom. This helps to physically remove the loosened contaminants.

This cleaning process aims to improve the iron ore quality by reducing impurities that could affect the efficiency and quality of the subsequent iron and steelmaking processes.
