How do I remove the online archive calendar from Outlook?

Published in Outlook Calendar 2 mins read

Removing the online archive calendar from Outlook involves hiding it from your calendar view. Here's how you can do it:

  1. Open Outlook: Launch your Outlook application.

  2. Go to Calendar: Navigate to the "Calendar" tab or icon, usually located at the bottom left of the Outlook window.

  3. View Calendars: In the Calendar view, look for the list of calendars displayed on the left-hand side of the screen. This pane typically shows your primary calendar, any shared calendars, and the online archive calendar.

  4. Hide the Online Archive Calendar: Simply uncheck the box next to the name of the "Online Archive" calendar (or similar name depending on your organization's setup) in the list of calendars. This will hide it from the main calendar view.

  5. Check for Additional Calendars: If you have multiple email accounts configured in Outlook, ensure you are looking at the calendar list associated with the correct account. The archive calendar will be tied to a specific email address.

  6. Close and Restart Outlook (Optional): Sometimes, Outlook might not immediately reflect the change. Closing and restarting Outlook can help ensure the calendar is fully removed from the view.

Important Considerations:

  • You are not deleting the archive: Hiding the calendar only removes it from your view. Your archived emails and calendar items remain stored in the online archive.
  • Accessing Archived Items: To view your archived calendar items, simply re-check the box next to the "Online Archive" calendar in the list of calendars.
  • Organizational Policies: Depending on your organization's policies, you might not be able to permanently remove the online archive calendar. The option to show or hide it might be the only control you have.
