You can change the margins on your Apple Pages document by accessing the document settings in the sidebar.
Adjusting Document Margins
Changing the margins in Apple Pages allows you to control the space between the edge of the page and your text or content. This is done through the Document settings panel.
Follow these steps to modify your document margins:
- Open your document in Apple Pages.
- Locate the Document button in the toolbar. Clicking this typically opens the sidebar.
- Once the sidebar is open, click the Document tab at the top of the sidebar. This tab contains settings that apply to the entire document.
- Scroll down or look for the Document Margins section within the Document tab.
- In the Document Margins section, you will see fields for different sides of the page. To change a margin, you can click the arrows next to the field or simply enter a specific value in the field. The available margin fields are:
- Top
- Bottom
- Left
- Right
Facing Pages Margins
For documents specifically set up to use facing pages (like books or brochures where pages are displayed side-by-side), the margin options change slightly to accommodate the layout. In this case, the document margins available are:
- Top
- Bottom
- Inside (the margin closest to the spine or fold)
- Outside (the margin furthest from the spine or fold)
Adjusting these values will immediately update the margins throughout your document, affecting how your content flows on each page.
Margin Type | Description | Standard Documents | Facing Pages Documents |
---|---|---|---|
Top | Space between the top edge and content. | Yes | Yes |
Bottom | Space between the bottom edge and content. | Yes | Yes |
Left | Space between the left edge and content. | Yes | No |
Right | Space between the right edge and content. | Yes | No |
Inside | Space closest to the binding/fold. | No | Yes |
Outside | Space furthest from the binding/fold. | No | Yes |
By following these steps and using the Document Margins section in the sidebar, you can easily customize the layout of your Pages document.
