To use the Magic Select tool (often referred to as the "magic wand") in Paint 3D, follow these steps to isolate and select a portion of your image:
-
Select "Magic Select": Open your image in Paint 3D, and on the top toolbar, click the "Magic Select" button. This initiates the selection process.
-
Initial Selection and Refinement: Paint 3D will attempt to automatically detect the boundaries of objects. Adjust the selection area by dragging the corner points of the selection rectangle to loosely encompass the object you want to isolate. Click "Next" to proceed to the refinement stage.
-
Adding to the Selection: If Paint 3D missed parts of the object, click "Add". Then, click and drag a line across any area you want to include inside the selection. These areas will be highlighted (usually in red) to indicate they will be added to the selection.
-
Removing from the Selection: If Paint 3D included parts of the image you don't want to select, click "Remove". Then, click and drag a line outlining the area you want to exclude from the selection. These areas will be highlighted differently (often in green) to show they will be removed.
-
Finalize Selection: Once you're happy with the selection, click "Done".
-
Manipulate the Selected Area: Now, you can click and drag the selected portion of the image away from its original location to see how well the Magic Select tool worked. You can then move, copy, paste, or delete the selected area.
