The tsunami generated by the Chicxulub impact, which is linked to the extinction of the dinosaurs, is estimated to have reached a size of approximately 100 meters in the immediate vicinity of the impact.
While the impact undoubtedly caused a massive tsunami, its size was constrained by the relatively shallow water depth (around 100 meters) at the impact site in the Yucatan Peninsula. The tsunami's energy would have dissipated as it traveled outwards from the impact zone, leading to smaller wave heights further away. While larger waves may have propagated northward, the overall size of the initial tsunami near the impact site was around 100 meters.
