How do you apply joint sand to pavers?

Published in Paver Installation 1 min read

Applying joint sand to pavers involves filling the gaps between them to create a stable, interlocked surface.

To apply joint sand based on the provided reference:

  1. Pour the sand directly onto the paver surface.
  2. Sweep the sand using a broom, working it thoroughly into the joints between the pavers.
  3. Using a broom handle or a similar blunt object, tap on the pavers. This action helps the sand settle and consolidate within the joints.
  4. After tapping, sweep more sand into any joints that have settled, ensuring they are filled properly.
  5. Continue adding and sweeping sand until the sand level is within 1/8 inch of the top of the paver surface.

Following these steps helps ensure the joints are adequately filled, contributing to the stability and longevity of the paved area.
