How do I add annotations in Adobe Reader?
Adding annotations in Adobe Reader is a straightforward process that begins with accessing the necessary tools within the application.

To start annotating your PDF document, follow these initial steps based on how the tools are accessed:

Accessing Annotation (Comment) Tools

Before you can add comments, highlights, or other markups, you need to open your PDF file in Adobe Reader and make the annotation tools visible.

  1. Open Your PDF File:

    • Begin by locating the PDF file on your computer that you wish to annotate.
    • If you are using a PC: Right-click on the PDF file. From the context menu that appears, select Open With, and then choose Adobe Acrobat Reader.
    • If you are using a Mac: Click on the PDF file once to select it. Open the file with Adobe Acrobat Reader (typically, double-clicking the file will open it in the default PDF viewer, which should be Reader if installed; alternatively, right-click and choose Open With > Adobe Acrobat Reader).
  2. Display the Comment Tools:
Once your PDF is open in Adobe Acrobat Reader, you need to display the tools specifically designed for adding annotations, which are often grouped under "Comment" tools. You have two common ways to do this:

    • Click on the Comment button. This button is usually visible in the right-hand pane or within a toolbar at the top of the window.
    • Alternatively, you can access the tools via the menu bar. Go to the View menu, hover over Toolbars, and then select Comment.

Once the Comment tools panel is displayed, you will see various options available, such as tools for adding sticky notes, highlighting text, adding text boxes, inserting shapes, and more, allowing you to add your desired annotations to the document.
