How to Resize a PDF Size?

Published in PDF Management 1 min read

To resize a PDF's file size, you can adjust the print settings when "printing" the PDF to a new file. Here's how:

  1. Choose the hamburger menu (Windows) or the File menu (macOS) and select Print.

  2. In the Print dialog box, locate the Page Sizing & Handling section.

  3. From the Page Sizing & Handling menu, select Custom Scale.

  4. Enter the desired percentage to either magnify (increase) or reduce the PDF. Reducing the percentage will decrease the file size. Consider reducing incrementally (e.g., 90%, 80%) and checking the resulting file size each time to find a good balance between size and readability.

  5. Select Print. Choose "Adobe PDF" or "Microsoft Print to PDF" (or a similar PDF printer) as your printer, and save the resized PDF to your desired location.

This method effectively "re-prints" the PDF with the specified scaling, which results in a new PDF file with the adjusted size. Keep in mind that significantly reducing the scale can impact the clarity of images and text within the PDF.
