How Do You Take Frames From Live Photos?

Published in Photography Tips 2 mins read

There are two primary ways to extract individual frames from Live Photos: by trimming the Live Photo or by turning off the "Live" feature to make it a still photo.

1. Trimming a Live Photo:

This method allows you to select a specific range of frames to play, essentially creating a shorter Live Photo that starts and ends at your desired points.

  • How to Trim: Open the Live Photo. Drag either end of the frame viewer (the bar at the bottom of the screen showing individual frames) to choose the frames the Live Photo will play.

2. Making a Still Photo:

This method allows you to select a single frame, effectively turning the Live Photo into a standard still image.

  • How to Make a Still Photo: Open the Live Photo. Tap the "Live" button at the top of the screen to turn off the Live feature. The photo becomes a still of its key photo. You can also edit the photo and choose a different key photo before turning off the live feature.

In summary, you can effectively extract frames by either shortening the Live Photo to a specific frame range or converting the Live Photo into a still image of a chosen frame.
