To remove a mask in Photopea, you need to use the appropriate delete command based on the type of mask: raster or vector.
Removing Raster Masks
To remove a raster mask, follow these steps:
- Select the layer containing the raster mask.
- Go to Layer > Raster Mask > Delete.
This action will completely remove the raster mask from the selected layer.
Removing Vector Masks
The process for removing a vector mask is similar:
- Select the layer with the vector mask.
- Navigate to Layer > Vector Mask > Delete.
This will delete the vector mask from the specified layer.
Understanding Mask Thumbnails
After adding a new mask (raster or vector), a thumbnail will appear next to the layer's thumbnail. This thumbnail visually represents the mask's effect on the layer. Deleting the mask will remove this thumbnail.
Disabling vs. Deleting Masks
Note that disabling a mask (right-clicking the mask thumbnail and unchecking "Enabled") temporarily hides its effect. The mask remains associated with the layer, and can be re-enabled at any time. Deleting a mask, however, permanently removes it.
Example Scenario
Imagine you've added a raster mask to hide a portion of your image. To completely remove this masking effect, you would use the Layer > Raster Mask > Delete
command. This irreversibly removes the masking data.
