How do I adjust the picture frame in Photoshop?

Published in Photoshop Editing 2 mins read

To adjust the scale of picture frame effects applied in Photoshop using Layer Styles, follow these steps:

  1. Select the Layer: In the Layers panel, select the layer containing the picture frame effect.
  2. Access Scale Effects: There are two main ways to do this:
    • Method 1 (Recommended): Right-click the "FX" icon (which indicates layer styles are applied) on the layer in the Layers panel and choose Scale Effects.
    • Method 2: Go to Layer > Layer Style > Scale Effects....
  3. Adjust the Scale: In the "Scale Effects" dialog box, either:
    • Enter a Percentage: Type a percentage value into the box. A value of 100% represents the original size, while values above 100% enlarge the effects, and values below 100% shrink them.
    • Drag the Slider: Use the slider to visually adjust the scale of the effects.
  4. Preview (Optional but Recommended): Check the "Preview" box to see the changes in the image in real-time as you adjust the scale.
  5. Click OK: Once you're satisfied with the adjustment, click "OK" to apply the changes.

This method scales all the Layer Styles applied to the layer proportionally. If you need to adjust individual aspects of the frame (like the drop shadow distance only), you'll need to adjust each Layer Style setting individually.
