How do I change the direction of my head in Photoshop?

Published in Photoshop Editing 2 mins read

You can adjust the direction (tilt) of a person's head in Photoshop using the Face-Aware Liquify feature.

Here's how:

  1. Open your image in Photoshop.
  2. Go to Filter > Liquify. This opens the Liquify workspace.
  3. In the Liquify panel, look for the "Face-Aware Liquify" section. If it's not immediately visible, you might need to click on a face in the image to activate it. Photoshop automatically detects faces in the image.
  4. Adjust the head direction: Within the Face-Aware Liquify section, you'll find controls related to different facial features, including head tilt. Look for a slider or similar control specifically for "Head Tilt," "Head Angle," or similar wording relating to head direction.
  5. Use the slider/control to change the direction of the head. Drag the slider to the left or right to rotate the head to the desired angle. You will see a preview of the changes.
  6. Adjust other facial features (optional): Face-Aware Liquify also lets you adjust other aspects of the face, such as eye size, nose shape, and mouth smile.
  7. Click OK to apply the changes. This closes the Liquify workspace and applies the head direction adjustment to your image.

Keep in mind that drastic changes can sometimes look unnatural, so adjust the head direction subtly for the best results.
