How do I remove a clipping path in Photoshop?

Published in Photoshop Editing 1 min read

To remove a clipping path in Photoshop, select the layer that's part of the clipping mask and then release it. Here’s how:

  1. Locate the Layer: In the Layers panel, find the layer you want to remove from the clipping mask.

  2. Release the Clipping Mask: Go to the "Layer" menu at the top of the screen and choose "Release Clipping Mask."

This action effectively removes the selected layer (and any layers above it in the stacking order that are also part of the mask) from being clipped by the base layer in the mask. Only layers that are directly part of the clipping mask will be affected; the base layer (the layer doing the clipping) will remain unchanged.
