You can link layers in Photoshop Elements to group them together, allowing you to move, transform, or apply effects to them simultaneously. Here's how:
-
Select the layers: In the Editor, navigate to the Layers panel (usually on the right side of the screen). Click on the first layer you want to link. Hold down the
Ctrl
key (Windows) orCommand
key (Mac) and click on any other layers you want to link. This will select multiple layers. -
Link the layers: Once the desired layers are selected, look at the top of the Layers panel. You should see a chain icon (it may appear greyed out if no layers are selected). Click this Link Layers icon. The icon will then appear next to each of the linked layers in the Layers panel, visually indicating that they are linked.
-
Unlink the layers (if needed): To unlink layers, select any of the linked layers in the Layers panel. Then, click the same Link Layers icon at the top of the Layers panel. This will break the link between all currently linked layers.
Now, the chain icon will disappear from next to the layers in the Layers panel, and the selected layer will be unlinked.
By linking layers, you can maintain their relative positions and transformations, streamlining your editing workflow.
