To rotate an ellipse in Photoshop, use the Free Transform tool.
Here's a step-by-step guide:
-
Select the Ellipse Layer: In the Layers panel, click on the layer containing the ellipse you want to rotate. Ensure it is a shape layer.
-
Activate Free Transform: Go to
Edit > Free Transform
or pressCtrl+T
(Windows) /Command+T
(Mac). A bounding box will appear around the ellipse. -
Rotate the Ellipse: Move your cursor just outside one of the corners of the bounding box. The cursor will change to a curved, double-headed arrow. Click and drag to rotate the ellipse to the desired angle.
-
Confirm the Rotation: Press
Enter
(Windows) /Return
(Mac) or click the checkmark in the options bar at the top to apply the rotation.
Alternatively, you can also specify the exact rotation angle:
-
Activate Free Transform: As above, go to
Edit > Free Transform
or pressCtrl+T
(Windows) /Command+T
(Mac). -
Locate Rotation Input: Look at the options bar at the top of the screen. You'll see a field labeled with a rotation symbol (it looks like a partially filled circle).
-
Enter Rotation Value: Type the desired rotation angle (in degrees) into that field and press
Enter
(Windows) /Return
(Mac). For example, enter "45" to rotate the ellipse 45 degrees clockwise. Negative values will rotate it counter-clockwise. -
Confirm the Rotation: Press
Enter
(Windows) /Return
(Mac) again or click the checkmark in the options bar to apply the rotation.
