How do I rearrange layers in Photoshop?

Published in Photoshop Layers 1 min read

You can rearrange layers in Photoshop by dragging them up or down in the Layers Panel. To select multiple layers, hold down the Ctrl key and click each layer. You can also use the Layer > Arrange menu to move layers to the front or back of the layer stack. Here are the options available:

  • Bring To Front: Moves the selected layer to the top of the layer stack.
  • Bring Forward: Moves the selected layer one position up in the layer stack.
  • Send Backward: Moves the selected layer one position down in the layer stack.
  • Send To Back: Moves the selected layer to the bottom of the layer stack.

If you're having trouble moving layers, make sure you're not in a locked layer mode. Check the Layer panel for a lock icon beside a layer; if there is a lock, double-click the lock icon to unlock the layer.
