How Do I Install Preset Power in Photoshop Camera Raw XMP?

Published in Photoshop Presets 2 mins read

To install presets in Photoshop Camera Raw (ACR) using XMP files, follow these steps:

Steps for Installing Camera Raw XMP Presets

  1. Download your presets: Ensure you've downloaded your desired presets in the XMP format.

  2. Open an Image in Photoshop: Launch Photoshop and open any image. This is necessary to access the Camera Raw filter.

  3. Access Camera Raw Filter: Go to the top menu and select Filter > Camera Raw Filter... This will open the Camera Raw window.

  4. Locate the Presets Tab: In the Camera Raw window, find the Presets tab, typically located on the right-hand toolbar.

  5. Import Presets:

    • In newer versions of Photoshop (2020 and later), you can import presets by clicking the three dots "..." icon in the upper right corner of the Presets panel, and then selecting "Import Profiles & Presets." Navigate to the folder containing your XMP files and select the ones you want to install.
    • In older versions, click the three lines/hamburger menu icon in the Presets panel and choose "Load Settings..." to manually load XMP files one at a time. This is a less efficient method if you have many presets to install.
  6. Verify Installation: After importing, your new presets should appear in the Presets panel. You can now apply them to your images within Camera Raw.

Troubleshooting:

  • If presets aren't appearing, double-check that they are in XMP format and are located in a directory accessible to Photoshop.
  • Ensure that you are using a version of Photoshop that supports XMP presets.
  • Restart Photoshop if you are still having trouble, as this can sometimes resolve loading issues.
