You can add trim, also known as a border or stroke, to text in Photoshop through the Layer Styles options.
Adding a Stroke to Text
Here's a breakdown of how to add a stroke to your text layer:
- Right-click Method:
- Right-click on the text layer in the Layers panel.
- Select Blending Options from the menu.
- Menu Method:
- Go to Layer in the top menu bar.
- Select Layer Style.
- Choose Stroke from the submenu.
Stroke Settings
Regardless of which method you choose, a Layer Style dialog box will appear.
- Select Stroke: In the Layer Style dialog box, select the Stroke option in the list of styles on the left.

- Size: This sets the thickness of the border or trim.
