How to Save Frame Animation in Photoshop as Video?

Published in Photoshop Video Editing 2 mins read

To save a frame animation in Photoshop as a video file, follow these steps:

  1. Go to File > Export > Render Video. This will open the "Render Video" dialog box.

  2. Name Your Video: In the Render Video dialog box, enter a descriptive name for your video file in the "Name" field.

  3. Choose a Destination Folder: Click the "Select Folder" button to choose the location on your computer where you want to save the video file. Navigate to your desired folder and click "Select Folder" (or the equivalent on your operating system).

  4. Adjust Render Settings (Optional):

    • Size: Control the dimensions of your output video.
    • Frame Rate: Set the number of frames per second for your video. The default frame rate is generally acceptable, but you can adjust it based on your needs. Higher frame rates result in smoother motion.
    • Document Ratio: Ensures that the aspect ratio is set to the document's initial setting.
    • Range: Choose what you want to render. Default is All Frames.
    • Format: Choose video format type for your saved video. Options typically include Adobe Media Encoder H.264, QuickTime, and more, each offering different compression and compatibility characteristics. H.264 is a commonly used format for web and general purposes.
    • Preset: Pick a preset that already configures Format option to pre-existing settings.
    • Profile & Level: If using H.264, adjust the Profile and Level settings for more advanced control over video encoding. These settings affect compatibility with different devices and players. Generally, sticking to the defaults is a safe bet.
  5. Render: Once you are satisfied with your settings, click the "Render" button. Photoshop will then process the animation and save it as a video file in the location you specified. The rendering time will depend on the length and complexity of your animation, as well as your computer's processing power.
