How do I lock a workspace in Photoshop?

Published in Photoshop Workspace 1 min read

To lock your workspace in Photoshop, select your desired workspace, then click "Lock Workspace." This prevents accidental moving or rearranging of panels.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

  1. Select Your Workspace: Make sure you're using the workspace you want to lock. You can choose from the default workspaces (Essentials, 3D, Graphic and Web, Motion, Painting, Photography) or a custom workspace you've created. You can access these by going to Window > Workspace and selecting the desired workspace from the dropdown menu.

  2. Lock the Workspace: After selecting the workspace, navigate back to Window > Workspace. You should see the "Lock Workspace" option. Click on it. A checkmark will appear next to it, indicating that the workspace is now locked.

Once locked, you won't be able to accidentally move or close panels, helping you maintain a consistent and organized workflow. To unlock, simply uncheck the "Lock Workspace" option.
