A low-lying placenta or placenta praevia is not considered good.
Understanding Placenta Problems
The reference text defines two problematic placenta conditions:
- Low-lying placenta: The placenta is less than 2cm from the cervix.
- Placenta praevia: The placenta completely covers the cervix. Placenta praevia affects about 1 in 200 births at the end of pregnancy.
These conditions are not good because they can cause complications during pregnancy and delivery, primarily due to the risk of bleeding.
