Earth was named after a Germanic word meaning "the ground." Unlike other planets in our solar system, it wasn't named after a Greek or Roman god or goddess.
In essence, while other planets received names rooted in mythology, Earth's name simply describes what it is: the land we live on. This makes Earth's naming unique within our solar system.
