How to Use a Pipe Extender?

Published in Plumbing Basics 1 min read

A pipe extender allows you to bridge a gap between two sections of pipe. It achieves this by slotting inside one pipe section and providing a socket connection for the other.

Essentially, a pipe extender works as follows:

  1. One end of the pipe extender is designed to slot inside the existing pipe you are extending. This end typically has a slightly smaller diameter.
  2. The other end of the pipe extender functions as a socket. This means it has a wider diameter, allowing you to insert another pipe section into it.
  3. By inserting the extender into one pipe and then inserting another section of pipe into the extender's socket, you effectively bridge the gap between the original pipe sections.

Therefore, using a pipe extender is simply a matter of inserting the correct ends into the respective pipes, ensuring a secure fit to bridge the intended gap.
