Pipe fittings are measured differently depending on whether they are male or female threaded.
- For male pipe threads: Measure the outside diameter at the widest point of the threads.
- For female pipe threads: Measure the inside diameter at the widest point of the threads.
After obtaining these measurements, you can use a nominal pipe size conversion chart to determine the correct size of the fitting.
