Replacing a shower hose is a straightforward task you can easily do yourself! Here's how:
-
Unscrew the old hose from the showerhead: Turn the nut connecting the hose to the showerhead counterclockwise. You may need to use a wrench for a tighter grip if it's stuck.
-
Unscrew the old hose from the shower tap (or valve): Similarly, unscrew the other end of the hose from the shower tap (or valve) by turning the nut counterclockwise. Again, use a wrench if necessary.
-
Prepare the new hose: Most new shower hoses come with rubber washers (also called O-rings). Make sure these are correctly positioned inside the nuts at both ends of the new hose. This ensures a watertight seal.
-
Attach the new hose to the shower tap (or valve): Screw the nut of the new hose onto the shower tap (or valve) and tighten it clockwise. Use a wrench to get a snug fit, but avoid over-tightening, which could damage the connections.
-
Attach the new hose to the showerhead: Screw the other end of the new hose onto the showerhead and tighten it clockwise. Use a wrench to tighten securely, but again, be careful not to overtighten.
-
Test for leaks: Turn on the shower and check both connections (at the showerhead and the tap/valve) for any leaks. If you find a leak, tighten the connection slightly with the wrench until the leak stops. If tightening doesn't resolve the leak, double-check the washers are properly seated.
