Anyone can get pneumonia. However, some groups are at higher risk than others.
According to available references, the following groups are at the highest risk:
- Adults ages 65 and older.
- Children younger than age 2.
Essentially, while pneumonia can affect individuals of any age, these specific age demographics are more susceptible to contracting the illness. This increased risk may be attributed to factors such as weakened immune systems in older adults and underdeveloped immune systems in young children.
