The full form of SEATO is Southeast Asia Treaty Organization.
SEATO was an international organization for collective defense established in September 1954 under the Southeast Asia Collective Defense Treaty (also known as the Manila Pact). It was primarily created to block further communist expansion in Southeast Asia. The main members included the United States, France, Great Britain, New Zealand, Australia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Pakistan. Although its headquarters were in Bangkok, Thailand, SEATO largely failed to prevent communist expansion, and it was dissolved on June 30, 1977.
