To change the slide time (also known as the slide duration or transition timing) in PowerPoint, follow these simple steps:
-
Select the Slide: Click on the slide in the slide sorter view or the normal view whose transition duration you want to modify.
-
Go to the Transitions Tab: In the PowerPoint ribbon, click on the "Transitions" tab.
-
Locate the Timing Group: Within the Transitions tab, find the "Timing" group. This group contains options related to how long a slide stays on screen and how transitions occur.
-
Adjust the Duration: In the "Duration" box within the Timing group, enter the desired number of seconds (or fractions of a second) that you want the transition to take. The duration controls how long the transition effect (e.g., fade, wipe) lasts. Note: This does not control how long the slide remains on the screen before automatically advancing. To control that, you need to set a timer for "After" in the timing group (see step 5).
-
(Optional) Set Advance Timing: To automatically advance the slide after a specific time, check the box labeled "After" and enter the desired number of seconds. If you want the slide to advance manually with a click, make sure the "On Mouse Click" box is checked, and the "After" box is unchecked. You can enable both if you want the slide to advance either after the set time or by clicking.
Summary: You change the slide time in PowerPoint by selecting the slide, going to the Transitions tab, finding the Timing group, and adjusting the "Duration" for the transition effect and optionally setting a time in "After" for automatic slide advancement.
