How do I insert a new slide master in PowerPoint?

Published in PowerPoint Tutorials 2 mins read

To insert a new slide master in PowerPoint, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the View Tab: Click the "View" tab on the PowerPoint ribbon.

  2. Enter Slide Master View: In the "Master Views" group, click "Slide Master." This will open the Slide Master view.

  3. Insert a New Slide Master: On the "Slide Master" tab (which appears when you're in Slide Master view), in the "Edit Master" group, click "Insert Slide Master." This will insert a brand new slide master into your presentation. It will initially be blank, based on the underlying Office theme.

  4. (Optional) Apply a Theme: If you want the new slide master to adhere to a specific theme, on the "Slide Master" tab, in the "Edit Theme" group, click "Themes" and select a theme from the "Built-in" options. This will change the appearance of the new slide master (and potentially others, depending on their setup).

  5. Customize the New Slide Master: You can now customize the new slide master with different fonts, colors, backgrounds, placeholders, and other elements to create a unique design.

  6. Close Master View: When you're finished customizing, click "Close Master View" on the "Slide Master" tab to return to the normal presentation view.

Now you can apply layouts from the new slide master to individual slides in your presentation. To do this, select a slide in the normal view, go to "Home" tab, in the "Slides" group, click "Layout" and choose a layout from the new slide master.
