How do I insert a picture holder in PowerPoint?

Published in PowerPoint Tutorials 2 mins read

To insert a picture placeholder in PowerPoint, you need to use the Slide Master view. Here's how:

  1. Open Slide Master View: On the View tab, click Slide Master. This opens the master slide and associated layouts where you can add and edit placeholders.

  2. Select a Slide Layout: In the left pane, select the slide layout where you want to add the picture placeholder. If you want it to apply to all slides, select the topmost slide master. However, it's generally better to apply it to a specific layout.

  3. Insert Placeholder: On the Slide Master tab, in the Master Layout group, click Insert Placeholder, and then click Picture.

  4. Draw the Placeholder: Click a location on the slide layout where you want the upper-left corner of the picture placeholder to be, and then drag to draw the placeholder to the desired size. The placeholder will be indicated by an icon of a picture.

  5. Customize (Optional): You can resize, reposition, and format the picture placeholder as needed. Use the Shape Format tab to adjust the appearance.

  6. Close Master View: When you're finished, click Close Master View on the Slide Master tab to return to the normal editing view.

Now, when you create a new slide using the layout you modified, it will contain the picture placeholder, allowing users to easily insert images.
