How Month Pregnant Am I?

Published in Pregnancy Calculation 1 min read

Unfortunately, I can't tell you exactly how many months pregnant you are without knowing the date of the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP). Pregnancy is typically measured in weeks from the LMP, and then converted into months.

Here's why I need that information and how pregnancy is calculated:

  • Pregnancy Calculation Starts Before Conception: Doctors count pregnancy from the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP), not from the date of conception. This means that in the first two weeks, you aren't actually pregnant yet!
  • Why the LMP Matters: Knowing your LMP allows healthcare providers to estimate your due date and track your baby's development.
  • Standard Pregnancy Length: A full-term pregnancy is typically 40 weeks (280 days) from the LMP, which is roughly equivalent to nine months.

To determine how many months pregnant you are, provide the date of the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP). I can then estimate your current gestational age in weeks and months.
