Where do you feel baby kicks?

Published in Pregnancy & Fetal Movement 1 min read

You typically feel baby kicks in different areas of your belly depending on the gestational age.

Early Pregnancy (Quickening)

  • Location: According to the reference information, early fetal movements, known as quickening, are often felt low in your belly, near your pubic bone.
  • Timing: This sensation usually begins when the fetus is still tiny, around the time your uterus is low in your abdomen, near your pubic bone (approximately 12 weeks of pregnancy).
  • Sensation: These early movements are typically subtle.

Later in Pregnancy (Around 20 Weeks)

  • Location: As pregnancy progresses, the location where you feel kicks will change. By 20 weeks, the top of your uterus (fundus) reaches your belly button.
  • Expanded Area: You may feel kicks higher up in your abdomen and around your belly button as the baby grows.
