Published in Pregnancy 1 min read

The most accurate ways to determine your baby's sex are genetic testing, such as Noninvasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT), or waiting to find out at your anatomy ultrasound.

While there are many old wives' tales and other methods that people use to try to predict a baby's sex, most of them are inaccurate.

  • Old Wives' Tales: These are based on anecdotal evidence and have no scientific basis. Some examples include:
    • Carrying high or low
    • Morning sickness severity
    • Heartbeat speed
    • Food cravings
  • Chinese Gender Predictor Chart: This chart is based on the mother's age and the month of conception. There is no scientific evidence to support its accuracy.
  • Other Tests: Some websites offer quizzes or tests that claim to predict your baby's sex. These are also based on anecdotal evidence and have no scientific basis.

It's important to rely on accurate methods like genetic testing or ultrasound for determining your baby's sex.
