How to Install HP Tango Ink

Published in Printer Ink Installation 3 mins read

Installing ink cartridges in your HP Tango printer is a straightforward process that helps ensure optimal print quality. This guide walks you through the steps, including crucial initial preparations.

Before you begin, make sure you have the correct replacement HP ink cartridges for your Tango printer model.

Preparing Your HP Tango Printer

Follow these preparatory steps to get your printer ready for ink cartridge installation or replacement:

  1. Turn on the printer, and then open the printer lid. This powers up the printer and makes it ready for maintenance tasks.
  2. Load plain white paper into the input tray. Having paper ready is often necessary for the printer to perform an alignment after ink is installed.
  3. Make sure the output tray or wrap is extended. This allows any printed pages, such as alignment pages, to exit the printer properly.
  4. Gently press down on the Ink Door button to release the ink cartridge access door, and then lift the door until it stays in place. This action moves the print carriage into position, allowing you to access the ink cartridges.

Accessing and Replacing Ink Cartridges

Once the ink cartridge access door is open and the carriage has moved, you can proceed with replacing the cartridges:

  • The carriage holding the cartridges will typically move to the center of the printer. Wait until it is completely stopped before proceeding.
  • Removing Old Cartridges (If Replacing):
    • Press down on the top of the cartridge you want to replace. This releases it from its slot.
    • Pull the old cartridge out towards you to remove it.
  • Installing New Cartridges:
    • Remove the new cartridge from its packaging.
    • Be careful to only touch the black plastic on the cartridge. Avoid touching the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles.
    • Remove the protective tape (usually orange or pink) from the new cartridge. Do not touch the contacts or nozzles after removing the tape.
    • Hold the cartridge so the contacts face towards the printer.
    • Slide the cartridge into its corresponding slot (usually color on the left, black on the right), pushing it firmly until it clicks into place.
    • Tip: Ensure you install the color cartridge in the correct slot and the black cartridge in its correct slot. There are often icons indicating which cartridge goes where.

Completing the Installation

After the new ink cartridges are installed:

  • Close the ink cartridge access door. Gently lower the door until it clicks securely into place.
  • The printer may make some noise as it primes the new cartridges and prepares for printing.
  • An alignment page might print automatically. Follow any prompts on the printer control panel or your computer/mobile device regarding alignment. Printing and scanning the alignment page helps ensure the best print quality.

By following these steps, you can successfully install ink cartridges in your HP Tango printer and resume printing.
