Which Paper Size Is Bigger in Printer?

Published in Printing 1 min read

A3 paper is bigger than A4 paper.

To understand the size difference, it's helpful to look at the A-series paper sizes. This series is based on a geometric ratio where each size is half the size of the previous one when folded in half along its longest side.

Here's a comparison:

  • A4: Commonly used for everyday printing, documents, and letters.
  • A3: Twice the size of A4. It's often used for posters, diagrams, and larger documents.
Paper Size Dimensions (mm) Dimensions (inches)
A3 297 x 420 11.7 x 16.5
A4 210 x 297 8.3 x 11.7

As you can see from the table, both the width and height of A3 paper are larger than A4 paper. A3 is effectively two A4 sheets side-by-side.
