How Do I Add Fonts in Procreate?

Published in Procreate Fonts 2 mins read

You can add fonts directly into Procreate through the text editing feature by importing them from your iPad's Files app. This process integrates new font files directly into Procreate's available typeface options when you're working with text layers.

Here's a simple step-by-step guide on how to add fonts in Procreate:

  1. Access the Text Tool: With your artwork open in Procreate, tap on the Actions menu (the wrench icon).
  2. Add Text: In the Actions menu, tap on the Add tab. From the options presented, tap Add text. This will create a new text layer and bring up the on-screen keyboard.
  3. Open Style Options: Tap the style button. This button is typically located in the top right-hand corner of the on-screen keyboard area and looks like an "Aa". Tapping this button opens the font style panel, allowing you to change the typeface, size, kerning, etc.
  4. Initiate Import: Within the style panel, look for and tap the Import button. This button is usually found in the top right-hand side of the style panel.
  5. Select Your Font File: Tapping "Import" will open the iPad's Files app. Navigate to the location where you have saved your font files (commonly in .ttf, .otf, or .woff formats). Select the font file(s) you wish to import.

Once selected, Procreate will import the font, and it will become available in the list of typefaces within the style panel for immediate use on your text layer and future text additions.

This method allows you to easily expand your font library within Procreate, enabling more creative control over your designs and illustrations by incorporating unique typography.
