RP surgery, or Radical Prostatectomy (RP), is a surgical procedure designed to remove prostate cancer completely. The primary goal of a radical prostatectomy is to remove all prostate cancer when the cancer is believed to be confined to the prostate gland.
Details of Radical Prostatectomy
During RP, the surgeon removes the following:
- The entire prostate gland.
- Some tissue surrounding the prostate gland.
- The seminal vesicles (glands that help produce semen).
