What is a Racket Frame?

Published in Racket Sports Equipment 1 min read

A racket frame is the structural component of a racket that provides its shape and supports the strings. It's composed of three primary parts: the head, the throat, and the handle.

Components of a Racket Frame

  • Head: This is the uppermost part of the racket, furthest from the grip. It's the part that holds the strings and impacts the ball. The edge of the head is referred to as the rim, and the very top is called the tip.
  • Throat: The throat connects the head to the handle. Its shape and design influence the racket's flexibility and feel.
  • Handle: This is the part of the racket you hold. It's typically wrapped with a grip for comfort and control.

The materials used for the frame (e.g., graphite, aluminum, titanium composites) significantly impact the racket's weight, stiffness, power, and control. The frame's shape and dimensions also play a critical role in these performance characteristics.
