Joseph's wise management of resources during the prosperous years allowed Egypt to successfully weather the famine, solidifying his position and leading to his appointment as ruler of the land. He ruled Egypt independently for eighty years, significantly impacting its economy and social structure. Before becoming king, he spent some time in the house of Aziz and then nine years in prison. He became the ruler at the age of thirty.
