What is female sperm called?

Published in Reproductive Biology 1 min read

Female sperm is called an egg or ovum. Unlike sperm, which are produced in the testes, eggs are produced in the ovaries. Both eggs and sperm are gametes, meaning they are reproductive cells that contain half the genetic material of a normal cell. When an egg and sperm fuse during fertilization, they create a zygote, which develops into a new organism.
