How to Pin 3D View in Revit?

Published in Revit 3D Views 1 min read

To effectively "pin" or lock a 3D view in Revit to prevent unwanted changes, follow these steps:

  1. Create and Save the 3D View: This ensures the view is listed in the Project Browser for easy access and management.
  2. Set Up the 3D View: Adjust the view's orientation, visibility/graphics settings, and any other properties until it looks exactly how you want it. This is crucial as this is the locked state.
  3. Lock the 3D View: Locate the "Locked 3D View" control at the bottom of the Revit window. It's represented by a house icon with a padlock. Clicking this button locks the current 3D view. Once locked, orbiting and other view manipulations will be restricted, preserving the view's setup.

After locking, if you need to make changes, simply click the "Locked 3D View" button again to unlock it. Remember to re-lock it after making your adjustments.
