How to Add a Drawing Title in Revit?

Published in Revit View Titles 2 mins read

Adding a drawing title in Revit, specifically the title that appears below a view placed on a sheet, is controlled by the "Title on Sheet" property of the view. This allows you to customize the label displayed for that view on your documentation sheets.

Here's how to set the drawing title for a view in Revit, based on the provided reference:

Steps to Set the Drawing Title on a Sheet

The drawing title, often referred to as the "view title" when on a sheet, is managed within the properties of the view itself. Follow these steps to add or change the title that appears under your drawing on a sheet:

  1. Access View Properties: Open or select the view you want to title. Make sure no other elements are selected in the view. The Properties palette (usually located on the left side of the screen) will display the properties for the view.
  2. Locate "Title on Sheet": In the Properties palette, scroll down to the Identity Data section. Within this section, find the property labeled Title on Sheet.
  3. Enter and Apply the Title: Click in the field next to Title on Sheet and type the desired title for your drawing as it should appear on the sheet. After entering the title, click Apply at the bottom of the Properties palette.
  • Note: The Title on Sheet property is distinct from the view's View Name. The View Name is what appears in the Project Browser, while the Title on Sheet is what appears on the sheet under the view. By default, if "Title on Sheet" is left blank, it will use the View Name.

This method allows you to easily specify the exact title for each view when it is placed on a sheet, ensuring clear and professional documentation.
