How do you undo a split wall in Revit?

Published in Revit Walls 2 mins read

To undo a split wall in Revit, you will essentially rejoin the split segments back into a single wall. Here's how:

  1. Select the wall segments: Click on one of the wall segments created by the split. If the split created multiple segments, repeat for each segment you want to rejoin.

  2. Use the "Modify" tab: Go to the "Modify" tab in the Revit ribbon.

  3. Use the "Edit Wall Joins" Tool: Within the "Modify" tab, find the "Geometry" panel and locate the "Edit Wall Joins" tool (it looks like two wall segments joining).

  4. Clean Up the Join: Click the "Edit Wall Joins" tool. Now, click the common endpoint of the two (or more) wall segments you wish to rejoin. Revit provides different ways to display the join; you can cycle through these using the options bar at the top of the screen. Select the option that cleans up the join (miter, butt, etc.). The objective is to return the segments to a single, continuous wall. Often, selecting the wall join and changing it to "Butt" will remove the join and leave you with the original continuous wall.

  5. Verify the Result: Check that the wall segments have rejoined correctly and that the wall now behaves as a single entity. If the join doesn't automatically clean up completely, you may need to drag the end points of the walls slightly to force the join to occur properly.

Alternatively, if the split was very recent, you could use the Undo function (Ctrl+Z) to revert to the state before the split occurred. However, this will undo all actions performed since the split.

It's important to note that if the split segments have been independently modified (e.g., different materials applied, different heights assigned), rejoining them may result in unexpected behavior. In such cases, it might be necessary to adjust the wall properties after rejoining them to achieve the desired result.
