How to remove a roller blind with a pelmet?

Published in Roller Blind Removal 2 mins read

Removing a roller blind that is installed with a pelmet typically involves first dealing with the pelmet itself, followed by releasing the blind from its mounting brackets.

Steps for Removing Your Roller Blind with a Pelmet

Follow these steps to safely take down your roller blind when it is fitted with a pelmet:

1. Access the Blind Mechanism

  • First unclip your pelmet, if you have one. This is the decorative cover at the top of the blind. Gently unclip or remove it to gain access to the roller blind and its brackets mounted on the wall or ceiling.

2. Release the Pin End Side

  • Locate the top of your blind on the pin end side. This is the side of the blind that has a simple pin rather than the chain mechanism.
  • At the top of the blind on this pin end, you will find a clear plastic cog.
  • Rotate the clear plastic cog anti-clockwise. This action is specifically designed to retract the pin slightly into the roller tube.
  • Rotating the cog will retract the pin away from the bracket just enough for you to remove that side of the blind completely from its mounting bracket.

3. Remove the Opposite Side

  • With the pin end now free from its bracket, move to the opposite side of the blind (the chain mechanism side).
  • Gently take the opposite side out of the bracket. This side is usually easier to remove once the tension from the pin end is released, often simply lifting out of a cradle-style bracket.

By following these steps, you can effectively remove your roller blind from its brackets after the pelmet has been unclipped.
