Henry VII, the first monarch of the Tudor dynasty, succumbed to tuberculosis at Richmond Palace in Surrey. His reign, marked by efforts to restore stability after the Wars of the Roses, ended with his death from this infectious disease. He was buried in Westminster Abbey next to his wife, Elizabeth of York, their effigies marking their tomb.
